My thoughts on choosing models..
I think its really important what models companies hire to wear the clothes and put in their advertisements. Like models are just as, or more, popular than celebrities now thanks to the expansion of fashion blogging and tumblr. When I started at free people I was filling out paperwork and I mentioned how smart it was that they chose Bambi and Sasha to be models in the catalogs and online. The manager was like "why." and I mean why with a period. I thought she was testing me to see if I had a actual answer (which I did) but it turns out she was just a bipolar bitch who didn't give a crap. I'm not joking she literally is a bipolar bitch. Anyway. . I'm so proud of Victorias Secret for choosing Barbara Palvin to model their designer collection. She is extremely popular right now and it does make a huge difference to how successful that line will be. It might be one of the smartest decisions they've made recently, especially considering they had to choose new Angels which is HUGE and risky if they made a bad choice. Free People on the other hand has chosen some really awful models for their online store. That is a huge disappointment. Also Anthropologie (same company) chooses some awful models for their catalog and I know their style is different so they choose 'unique' models but ugly is the word that comes to mind when I see some of them. I know that is harsh but it makes me not want to blog an outfit if the model isn't attractive. Thats why its so important to marketing to choose the right models. This definitely could've been well written but I just had to get it out of me so there it is. :)
